2007 Paso Robles Grenache,   Herder Vineyard

The j.r. storey Grenache comes from the Herder Vineyard just a few miles east of Templeton. This tiny block of Grenache, produces fruit with great depth and character. the soil, composed of fossilized oysters, gravel, sand, and limestone, gives this intense wine a nose of blueberries and spice.

Wine Maker Notes:

The grapes were hand picked in the early morning, then crushed into small fermenters. Caps were punched by hand twice daily, during a cool two week fermentation. The wine was pressed into Vicard and Billon French oak barrels for aging before bottling, 30% of which were new.
