2006 Arroyo Grande Grenache,   Arroyo Grande Vineyard

The j.r. storey Grenache comes from the Rancho Arroyo Grande Vineyard just a few miles east of Pismo Beach and the Pacific Ocean. This tiny block of Grenache, just 238 vines, are head-trained and dry-farmed, producing fruit with great depth and character. the soil, composed of fossilized oysters, gravel, sand, and limestone, gives this intense wine a nose of blueberries and spice.

Wine Maker Notes:

The grapes were hand picked in the early morning, then crushed into small fermenters. Caps were punched by hand twice daily, during a cool two week fermentation. The wine was pressed into Vicard and Billon French oak barrels for aging before bottling, 30% of which were new.
